The lamp you see below was made around 1920. The same years opened a wave of emancipation that gave the era its name — the Roaring Twenties. Seems a shame to translate that one.

Henry Ford makes the car affordable for everybody, the clubs are thumping with jazz and with alcohol — Prohibition, naturally. Radio and cinema are minting legends. Cities everywhere are enjoying a new spirit of the times.

Back then there were people riding strange two-wheeled "vehicles" that would later become proper motorcycles. The ones piloting those frying pans flew on the wings of that spirit — real monkeys covered in grease, immensely proud of their mobility and their modernity.

It is their spirit I want to talk about today: Grease Monkey is the ability to sit down at the side of the road, find your resources again, and carry on, pleased that you managed with whatever was to hand.

Henry Ford creeaza autovehicolul accesibil pentru toti, cluburile duduie de muzica jazz si de alcool - era vremea Prohibitiei, de! Radioul si cinematograful creeaza legende...lumea se bucura de un nou spirit al vremurilor peste tot in marile orase ale lumii.

Erau pe-atunci unii care conduceau niste "vehicule" ciudate cu doua roti, care vor deveni mai tarziu niste adevarate motociclete. Cei care pilotau "tigaile" astea zburau pe aripile spiritului vremii, niste adevarate maimute pline de vaselina, mandre nevoie-mare de mobilitatea si modernitatea lor.

Despre spiritul celor din urma va voi "vorbi" azi: Grease Monkey e abilitatea de a te aseza pe marginea unui drum, a-ti (re)gasi resursele si a continua, multumit ca te-ai descurcat cu ce aveai la indemana.
